About
I am a Houston-based editorial and sports photojournalist, skilled in editing, captioning, and transmitting images on location to meet tight deadlines. I am available for assignments in Houston, College Station, Huntsville, Austin, Waco, and surrounding areas of Southeast Texas, often with as little as 24 hours' notice.
I launched Joe Buvid Photography in 2008 while attending Sam Houston State University (SHSU). During my time at SHSU, I began freelancing for The Houstonian, the university's student newspaper. Initially a stringer, I was later hired as a staff photographer and promoted to head photographer in my senior year. Throughout my tenure at The Houstonian, I won multiple Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) awards for sports photography, editorial content, and on-site competitions.
I graduated from Sam Houston State in 2010 with a BBA in Economics and Marketing. After college, I returned to Houston and continued pursuing my passion for sports and news coverage. I began freelancing for the Conroe Courier, a local area newspaper.
